how to answer counting questions
There is a specific form that must be followed in order for your open response answers to be correct. Below are the rules:
- "and' is indicated using the & (ampersand) sign
- All counts in a note must be indicated example (excluding "e" and "a"): half note is "1&2&" NOT "12"
- All counts that belong to a note are grouped together WITHOUT spaces example: Quarter note is "1&" NOT "1 &"
- When there are multiple notes in a row, separate the counting between them with a space example: four quarter notes is "1& 2& 3& 4&"
- Measured must be separated with | (upward line), but the upward line should not be placed at the beginning of your response or after the last measure. In other words, it Only goes between two measures.
- Rests must be put in parentheses and all of the above rules still apply.
